Zaadz Visionary Music's first benefit compilation, The Dream Is Valid, has finally made a small but significant difference in the world. Our first payout allowed us to offer a $225 microloan to Ramona Díaz, an entrepreneurial local grocer in the Dominican Republic. Within a few months, our loan will be returned and available to help someone else strengthen their community and support themselves without exporting their local resources or succumbing to the hidden strings of international aid.
This is proof of principle: the churning engine of music sales can simultaneously provide exposure for artists and support projects of social benefit, all while offering quality content to We The Discriminating Art Lovers.
For anyone interested, here's all you could ever want to know:
Visit Omstream.com to buy the album for whatever price you decide.
(You can also look at this as making a continuously-recycling donation and getting free music, if you like.)
Zaadz Visionary Music's lender's page at Kiva.org
(Where you'll be able to keep track of our lending history.)
More information about The Dream Is Valid, including a brief manifesto.
(It really is brief, I promise you.)
yours in putting play to work,
Michael

This is GREAT! It's a good start… and it will keep recycling as a loan again and again … and with more sales, it can be increased or diversified! Powerful change! Thank you for organizing this effort!! You are a gem!
